The Ten Piano Sonatas of Alexander Scriabin form one of the most extraordinary journeys in the piano literature, tracing his path from late-Romantic intensity to a radically original musical language.
During the 24 hours of instruction across this unique course bundle, Dr. Elina Akselrud leads you deeply into all ten sonatas, offering a broad and detailed guide to Scriabin’s evolving world of sound, symbolism, imagery, and pianistic writing.
This bundle is designed to help you not only learn these works more effectively, but also to deepen your understanding of Scriabin’s aesthetic universe, refine your technical approach, and develop a more mature and individual interpretation.
Each course is a substantial in-depth lesson devoted to one Sonata, exploring its artistic context, emotional and philosophical ideas, semantics, thematic material, structure, and expressive character, alongside practical questions of fingering, material redistribution between the hands, coordination, efficient and tension-free movement, articulation, phrasing, pedaling, balance, sonority, and texture.
Each sonata also includes a specially prepared annotated PDF score with detailed fingerings, pedaling, translations of Scriabin’s French markings where relevant, hand redistribution, and many additional performing notes created specifically for each lesson.
This is a rare opportunity to study the Complete Sonata Cycle with a performer and researcher deeply devoted to Scriabin’s music.
About your instructor:
I am a Ukrainian-American classical pianist, currently living in Austria. In 2025 I have successfully acquired my Doctoral Degree in Artistic Research at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, with Excellence, on Artistic Interpretation of late Scriabin. During the last decade I have created six multi- and crossdisciplinary productions with my Intertwining Arts team. After years of my discoveries as a solo pianist and a crossdisciplinary artist, I find it absolutely necessary to share my knowledge, skills, and understanding of possibilities in musical interpretation with the world, by teaching individual piano lessons and recording video tutorials.
I play and teach all kinds of classical music - from Baroque to Contemporary. I think it is very important to understand how unique and complete each individual style is - therefore, I don't really have a favorite one, since they are all incredible. I am an open-minded and easy going person, always willing to collaborate with my students' needs and ideas when it gets to piano playing.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about individual lessons via the contact form on my website elinaakselrud.com – I will be more than happy to reply!
Keep creating and best of luck,
Dr. Elina Akselrud
